Bunka-Cho Film Week 2011 -Here & There

As part of its efforts to support promotion of Japanese films, the Bunka-Cho (Agency for Cultural Affairs) holds the “Bunka-Cho Film Week” during the period of the Tokyo International Film Festival. It considers “films” from multiple angles. This year, the following events will be held: an awards presentation ceremony to commend excellent documentaries and individuals who have supported Japanese films for many years and commemorative screenings for prize winners, as well as a “Movie Campus” symposium with filmmakers and a talk show event called “Film Navigators”to welcome persons of note as navigators from outside the film industry.

Symposium – Movie Campus-

“Movie Campus” is a symposium that introduces new approaches or film culture movements from an academic point of view. Our theme for this year is “connecting people through films” and it will consist of two parts. In part one, we will focus on animation and what the animation industry needs, as well as the challenges that face the industry. The panelists will also discuss the direction that the industry should be heading in. In part two, we will discuss the power of films, and will look at various approaches that are being made to connect people and films, and the possibilities that these approaches hold.

Film Navigators

"Film Navigators" is a talk show event which will feature a figure from outside the film industry as the main guest. The guest will act as “navigators” and will explore the beauty of cinema from their own unique perspective. Our concept for this year is “Learning from films, and discovering from films”, and the guest will offer insight on how to enjoy films.
